The Customs Brokers Association – Ghana (CUBAG)

Is a not-for-profit organisation of over 400 corporate members, which aims amongst other things to raise the standards of the port community and practitioners in the trading industry through the promotion of all relevant objects within the confines of the industry.

CUBAG has been established to:

  • promote the business of Customs House Agent, Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarding.
  • educate and disseminate government policies in Customs.
  • ensure high standard of professionalism and integrity among members.
  • seek the general Welfare of the association and its members.
  • affiliate and establish links with international bodies in the shipping industry.
  • act as a link between the state and other stakeholders affiliated to the industry.
  • organize appropriate courses, seminars, workshops, and consultancy services on customs, shipping, transport, international trade and commerce for members and the general public.
  • seek and promote any other object(s) that may appear to be relevant to the Association within the confines of the industry.

The association provides various mechanisms including but not limited to the CUBAG Training Institute (CTI) research, National and District Technical Committees, specialized member agencies or organisations and practitioners with requisite expertise to progressively establish knowledge bases on key aspects of Shipping / Freight Logistics, Customs House Agency, Customs Brokerage and Freight Forwarding.

CUBAG engenders close collaboration on key industry issues and a cross fertilization of ideas and best practices that will not only assist the industry undertake reform, but will also serve to build closer links between policy makers, regulators, academia and the private sector.

The CUBAG website is a one stop shop for everything concerning the association. It provides a directory of corporate member organizations, active or in good standing and dormant. It lists the various committees (standing and ad hoc), the national and district secretariats involved in the running of the association at the various levels. The website is also a mechanism for communicating information about current activities, new developments, upcoming events, and other items of interest.

Since its establishment in 1992, CUBAG’s principal objective has been to raise the status of customs brokerage, customs house agent and /or freight forwarding profession.

In 2021, CUBAG managed to change the old guard that had been at the helm of affairs since its inception. The successful replacement of the autocrats marked a significant milestone in the annals of development of the 29-year history of the association.

With the current momentum the transition i.e.; reorganization and restructuring of the association has gathered, coupled with the existing goodwill and commitment to the rebranding agenda INEC is confident of chalking more significant milestones.
